Illegal Waste Disposal: Two Companies Fined

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 12th) The Brunei-Muara District Office (JDBM), through its licensing and enforcement division, joined forces with enforcement agencies from the National Immigration and Registration Department (JIPK), Royal Brunei Customs and Excise Department (JKED), Department of Labour and Employment, and the Town and Country Planning Department, to carry out a comprehensive enforcement operation.
The results of the operation showed that the Brunei-Muara District Office has issued fine notices to two companies, accusing them of violating the Land Utilization Act (Chapter 30).
Singkong Construction Company was fined $2,000 for violating Section 12(1)(d). JS Aluminium Sdn. Bhd. was fined $2,000 for violating Section 12(1)(e).
Both companies were ordered to pay the fine within 7 days. If payment is not made, the case will be referred to court. If convicted, the company may be fined up to $30,000, or face imprisonment of up to 12 months, or both.
