(Brunei, 28th) According to a local English report, a store manager was sentenced to one year and one month in prison and one stroke of the cane for sexually harassing a male customer at a small supermarket.
The 36-year-old Indian man, Faisal, sexually harassed a 24-year-old Bruneian man in the grocery store. He was found guilty by the court.
The court was informed that the incident occurred on the morning of November 27, 2024, at around 9 am. The victim, a student, entered the small supermarket to purchase a lighter and collect some old newspapers. As he walked towards the back of the store, the defendant followed him and committed sexual harassment — pinching the victim's nipple, then pressing against him from behind while both were fully clothed.
The court learned that after handing over the newspapers, the defendant again grabbed the victim's waist and assaulted him once more. Before the victim left, the defendant gave him a piece of paper with his phone number written on it.
CCTV footage corroborated the victim's testimony, and the defendant later admitted to the crime during police questioning.
The court noted that the defendant had no previous criminal record and was married with two children. Nevertheless, the court sentenced him to 13 months in prison and one stroke of the cane, emphasizing the necessity of power and upholding public morality.
