(Bandar Seri Begawan, 28th) The Royal Brunei Police Force (PPDB) Bangar Police Station successfully foiled a smuggling case. The incident occurred in the Bangar area, where after a chase, two local suspects were arrested, and a large quantity of cigarettes and alcoholic beverages were seized.
At the time of the incident, the police were conducting patrols in the area when they spotted a suspicious vehicle. When the police instructed the vehicle to stop, the driver refused to comply, leading to a pursuit. Eventually, the vehicle was successfully intercepted around Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Bridge.
Upon further inspection of the vehicle, the police discovered several black plastic bags containing a large quantity of suspected smuggled goods. After detailed examination, the police seized the following items: 300 boxes of cigarettes, 480 cans of beer, and 12 bottles of alcoholic beverages.
The two suspects are local residents, one 42-year-old male and one 40-year-old female, who have now been detained. All seized items and the two suspects have been handed over to the Brunei Customs Department for further investigation and legal action.
The Royal Brunei Police Force urges the public to continue cooperating by actively reporting any suspicious or illegal activities. Relevant information can be provided through the police hotline at 993 or by visiting the nearest police station to file a report.
