(Miri, 16th) Miri Mayor Adam Yii pointed out that the Miri Marathon 2025 is expected to become the largest sporting event in the region, with strong support from the Sarawak Tourism Board and Miri City Council. This event has brought a positive impact on the local economic development.

He revealed that in last year's event, approximately 6,000 participants took part, resulting in a full booking of hotels in Miri, with some visitors even having to spend the night in their cars. This vibrant scene proves that the Miri Marathon not only promotes the development of tourism and the hotel industry but also makes an important contribution to the economic growth of the Miri area.

“The Sarawak Ministry of Tourism has always been committed to promoting sports activities in Sarawak, and Miri is one of the beneficiary cities. At the same time, we are very grateful to our friends from Brunei who have been giving us strong support every year.”

He further announced that the Miri Marathon has been officially included in the 'Borneo Marathon Series', which currently covers Kota Kinabalu, Miri, and Kuching. In the future, the organizers plan to expand the event further to the entire Borneo region with Brunei and Kalimantan, creating a complete Borneo Marathon Series.

He also pointed out that to ensure the smooth running of the event, the organizers have announced that traffic control will be implemented on some major roads on the race day. The public is urged to plan ahead for travel arrangements and cooperate with relevant traffic adjustments.

With the continuous increase in the number of participants and the expansion of the event scale, the Miri Marathon 2025 will not only bring more revenue to the local economy but also further consolidate Miri's position as a regional sports center.
