(Bandar Seri Begawan, 25th) — The Accounting Career Roadshow, jointly organized by the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE) and the Brunei Institute of Certified Public Accountants (BICPA), was successfully held yesterday at the Student Learning and Service Centre (SLSC) of the Prince Abdul Mateen College, attracting enthusiastic participation from numerous students.
The event was primarily aimed at students, intending to introduce them early to the realities and prospects of an accounting career, spark their interest, and encourage them to plan their academic paths early for a future in the accounting profession.
Dr Lau Bi Wen, Principal of Prince Abdul Mateen College, was invited as a guest speaker. Drawing from her own experiences, she elaborated on the development pathways in the accounting profession and emphasized the importance of obtaining internationally recognized qualifications, such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) certification.
She pointed out that accounting is not limited to bookkeeping, but also encompasses various career pathways such as auditing, taxation, financial analysis, and business consulting. It is a highly specialized field with broad prospects.
During the event, students also participated in interactive sessions. Through simulated tasks and challenge questions, they gained a deeper understanding of and interest in the accounting industry.
In the subsequent Q&A session, students actively asked questions and discussed industry trends and career opportunities, further deepening their understanding of the topics covered.
This event forms part of the Ministry of Finance and Economy and BICPA's ongoing efforts to develop the local accounting industry, and also demonstrates the government’s emphasis on enhancing the talent pipeline for professional services and the financial sector in the future.
The organizers hope that through close collaboration with academic institutions, more young people will be encouraged to pursue careers in accounting, injecting new energy into the country’s economic and professional development.
