Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff stated that since the prohibition of using illegal crossing points along the Golok River from December 1 last year, the police successfully arrested 7 illegal cross-border individuals who have been charged, and all suspects have been sentenced under Section 5(2) of the Immigration Act 1959/1963.
He pointed out that crime activities along the Thailand-Malaysia border are now under control, and cross-border crime activities have successfully been reduced, which indicates that the intensified control and enforcement efforts along the borders of both countries are showing positive results.
He said this to the media after attending the monthly assembly at the Kelantan Police Headquarters on Monday.

“As is well known, compared to Tumpat and Jeli, Pasir Mas district is one of the popular areas chosen by smugglers and individuals using illegal routes.”
Mohd Yusoff said that the police have identified over 20 illegal passages in Pasir Mas, and the General Operations Force frequently patrols the border areas there.
He pointed out that starting January 1, the police have also deployed the Senoi Praaq unit from Gerik, Perak, to serve at the Malaysia-Thailand border, stationed at 17 General Operations Force guard posts.
“The Senoi Praaq has replaced the existing unit personnel, and their duty at the border is expected to further enhance border control in Kelantan, thereby continuing to strengthen national security.”
