The Ministry of Transport will implement seven measures in 2025 to focus on cracking down on overloaded heavy vehicles. Minister Loke Siew Fook vows to resolve the issue of overweight heavy vehicles once and for all this year.
He stated that these measures include forming a task force led by the department's secretary-general to comprehensively address overloaded heavy vehicles, conducting joint enforcement operations, installing a 'High-Speed Weigh-In-Motion' (HS-WIM) system, amending laws to make consignees also responsible for overload violations, appointing more inspection centers to check vehicles, supervising the integrity of enforcement personnel, such as having road transport department officers wear body cameras, and re-evaluating the registration and use of rebuilt vehicles.
Loke Siew Fook stated this during his New Year address at the Ministry of Transport on Monday (January 6).
