Regarding the sneer by Najib Razak's daughter, Datin Nooryana, at the Anwar Government for setting up roadblocks against support rallies, former Bersih leader Mandeep Singh reminded that during Najib's tenure as Prime Minister, similar methods were used to prevent people from rallying on the streets.
Former Bersih executive committee secretary Mandeep Singh reminded Nooryana on the X platform that Najib used the same methods back then to prohibit gatherings.
“Maybe you forgot, while you were enjoying luxury at the Twin Towers (Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre), we (Bersih participants) were arrested the night before the rally, because your father was afraid of demonstrations in Kuala Lumpur.”
Nooryana on Sunday night (5th) mocked the Anwar Government for setting up roadblocks for the rally in her Instagram Story.
“Happening during the 'Reformasi' (Reformation) era?
“Would we be let through if we wore Bersih shirts?”
Mandeep continued to say that he does not support the police setting up roadblocks in Putrajaya and emphasized that he always defends the freedom to assemble, as it is a right granted to all citizens by the Federal Constitution.
However, he stated he would not support a rally for Najib and said Najib is still a criminal who needs to serve the remainder of his sentence in Kajang Prison.
