Despite police warnings not to participate in today's rally at the Palace of Justice in support of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib, Selangor PAS Chairman Datuk Ahmad Yunus still appeared to support Najib and seek the truth.
On Monday (6th), during the Putrajaya Palace of Justice rally, he told the media that the people have the right to assemble and express their views.
“We just want to know whether the additional order exists.”
The police stated yesterday that the rally did not receive approval from the property owner and violated the rules of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012, hence warning the public not to participate.
Putrajaya District Police Chief Assistant Director Aidi Sham pointed out that participants will face strict action for violating existing laws.
The National Palace stated last Friday (3rd) that any prisoner seeking pardon or sentence reduction must personally submit their application, which will be reviewed and decided by the Board of Pardons chaired by the King.
Not long after, UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Asyraf announced on January 3rd the cancellation of the planned rally in support of Najib at the Palace of Justice.
Najib sought judicial review from the High Court to confirm whether the 16th King, Sultan Abdullah, had issued an additional order approving his house arrest, but this application was rejected by the High Court.
The Court of Appeal previously scheduled today to hear Najib's appeal against the High Court's decision on the additional order.
