(Bandar Seri Begawan, 28th) In order to strengthen bilateral relations between Singapore and Brunei and promote regional educational cooperation, a delegation from the Singapore Ministry of Education recently visited Chung Hwa Middle School, Brunei. Both parties conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as educational development, student and teacher exchanges, and teacher training.
The visit was led by senior officials from the Singapore Ministry of Education, with the head of delegation being Ms. Shafira, Assistant Director of Talent Development at the Student Placement and Services Division. Accompanying members included the principals of Dunman High School, Ngee Ann Secondary School, Victoria School, as well as MOE officials. On the morning of June 23, accompanied by officials from the Brunei Ministry of Education Private Education Section, they visited Chung Hwa Middle School.
Principal Khoo Guek Lan of Chung Hwa Middle School, together with the school’s leadership and teacher representatives, warmly received the delegation. They accompanied the guests on a tour of the school’s “Design & Technology” classroom, “3D Printing” facilities, and showcased the school’s multimedia classrooms and distinctive courses. Both sides exchanged views with school administrators and senior teachers, discussing teaching innovation and the application of technology in the classroom.
Khoo Guek Lan pointed out that Singapore’s experience in educational innovation and technology application is worth learning from, and Chung Hwa Middle School looks forward to launching more collaborative projects in the future to provide students with broader learning platforms.
She revealed that Chung Hwa greatly values its educational ties with Singapore. Since 2011, the school has continuously carried out two-way exchange programs, which have included sending students to Singapore for further studies, as well as receiving Singaporean primary students for exchange visits, and even multiple visits by official Singaporean delegations. These cross-border interactions have created countless unforgettable learning experiences and deep friendships.

During the talks, both sides agreed that educational cooperation is of great significance for regional development. They conducted in-depth discussions on areas for collaboration such as student exchanges, cultural mutual learning, and teacher training, reaching multiple consensuses on both online and offline exchanges. Representatives from the Singapore Ministry of Education also expressed hope to use this opportunity to promote the establishment of long-term partnerships between educational institutions of both countries, jointly enhancing education quality and nurturing internationally competitive talent.
