Trump Holds Meeting to Discuss Possible New Strikes on Iran, Will 'Remain at the White House' Over the Weekend

US President Trump convened his national security team on the 22nd to discuss matters related to the conflict with Iran, and the White House announced that Trump would adjust his schedule this weekend to remain at the White House.

On the 22nd, the American news website Axios quoted US officials as saying that Trump convened his national security team on the morning of the 22nd to discuss matters related to the conflict with Iran. During the meeting, he was briefed on the current state of the US-Iran negotiations and learned about various contingency plans in case the negotiations broke down.

Vice President Vance, Secretary of War Hegseth, CIA Director Ratcliffe, White House Chief of Staff Wiles, among other officials, attended the meeting.

According to sources, Trump is seriously considering whether to launch new strikes on Iran, unless there is a last-minute breakthrough in the negotiations. He proposed the possibility of a final, decisive large-scale military action, after which he could declare victory and end the war. At present, there are no indications that Trump has made a decision to launch new strikes.

The report states that Trump has become increasingly frustrated with the negotiations with Iran. When he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on the 19th, he expressed a desire to give diplomacy another chance, but by the evening of the 21st, he was leaning towards ordering military action.

Several hours after the meeting ended, the White House announced an adjustment to Trump’s weekend schedule: he would remain at the White House and cancel the previously planned trip to the Bedminster Golf Club in New Jersey.

Trump also posted on social media: "I believe it is critical that I stay in Washington, at the White House, during this crucial period."
