The Times of Israel website reported on the 29th that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu recently presented three scenarios regarding the Iran situation during his meeting with US President Trump, but did not mention any specific strategies. During meetings with senior US officials, Netanyahu also expressed a desire to gradually phase out US aid.
Citing senior Israeli officials, the report said the three scenarios Netanyahu mentioned include: First, reaching a diplomatic agreement with Iran; second, an unclear situation where no agreement is reached and the US continues to try to pressure Iran through economic sanctions, but will not launch another war; third, launching a large-scale offensive against Iran again.
The report said that relevant Israeli officials denied that Netanyahu's visit to the US was aimed at persuading Trump to resume strikes against Iran. The official said that Netanyahu did not indicate to Trump which scenario he prefers, and that the two discussed all the scenarios in detail, as well as their respective pros and cons.
The report pointed out that in February this year, Israel successfully persuaded the US to jointly carry out a large-scale military operation against Iran, but many of the results predicted at that time were not achieved.
The report also said that on the 28th, in meetings with US Vice President Vance and US Presidential Envoy Whitkoff, Netanyahu proposed a "desire to gradually phase out US aid to Israel within 10 years." Netanyahu plans to gradually cancel the US-provided annual foreign military financing aid of about $3.3 billion (about 13.485 billion ringgit), while retaining the annual $500 million ballistic missile defense aid.
Netanyahu also discussed with senior US officials the establishment of a roughly $16 billion US-Israel joint fund for the development of new weapons systems. Israel also plans to develop its own combat aircraft within 10 years.
