The US has added Chinese-leading robots and power inverters to its import control list. China's Ministry of Commerce urges the US to immediately revoke the relevant measures and warns that if the US insists on its actions, China will firmly take countermeasures.
The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) updated the control list on Tuesday, adding foreign-produced "advanced robotic equipment," including humanoid and quadruped robots, as well as networked inverters capable of converting solar energy into usable electricity.
The FCC stated that an inter-agency body convened by the White House determined that these products pose unacceptable risks to US national and citizen security, including potential supply chain vulnerabilities, disruptions to the US economy and national security, and possible cybersecurity threats to critical US infrastructure.
On Thursday, China's Ministry of Commerce stated on its official website that the FCC's measures, though claiming to be "non-discriminatory" on the surface, in essence discriminate against and suppress Chinese enterprises and products.
The spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce said that for some time, the FCC has repeatedly ignored China's protests and restrained attitude, continuously introduced and escalated restrictive measures, seriously harming China’s legitimate trade interests, severely undermining the stability of China-US economic and trade relations, and disrupting the stability of the global industrial and supply chains. China firmly opposes this.
The spokesperson criticized the US for broadening the concept of national security, using administrative power to artificially interfere with normal business transactions and trade between companies, and constantly advancing decoupling and chain disruption. The spokesperson said such actions are detrimental to all sides, constitute typical market distortion and unilateral bullying. “China urges the US to immediately revoke the relevant measures and stop its wrong practices. If the US insists on its own way, China will firmly take countermeasures to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.”
