(Bandar Seri Begawan, 21st)—The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Royal Brunei Police Force’s Criminal Investigation Department recently held a 'Cyber Fraud' seminar at Anggerek Desa for 50 staff members from the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) to further enhance their understanding of cybercrime and scamming methods.

The seminar was conducted by Chief Inspector Adinin, who primarily explained the methods used by online scammers. Participants were also introduced to the illegal nature of acting as 'money mules' or lending their bank accounts to others for use, as well as how to take appropriate preventive measures to avoid becoming victims of cybercrime.

The police pointed out that raising public awareness of online scams and related crime techniques is a crucial step in preventing cybercrime, especially when it comes to handling personal information, bank accounts, and financial transactions.

The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit stated that in the future, they would continue to strengthen cooperation with government departments and private organizations to further expand awareness and education campaigns on internet safety and cybercrime prevention, working together to curb domestic cybercrime.
