(Miri, 4th) Pujut Assemblyman and Miri City Mayor, Adam Yii Siew Sang revealed that the N74 Pujut Constituency 2025 Rural Transformation Program (RTP) will include 12 school projects and 12 community projects, further promoting local development.
While speaking at a symbolic fund allocation ceremony held at the SUPP Pujut Branch Service Center today, Adam reported the implementation status of the N74 Pujut Constituency RTP Rural Transformation Program since taking office as a state assemblyman. He stated that by 2025, 12 community projects will be submitted for application, including 4 lighting projects, 1 youth center, 1 community center, 1 parking area, 1 park, 2 markets, and 2 religious sites, aimed at assisting the enhancement and development of community facilities.
Adam pointed out that from 2022 to 2024, a total of 57 projects were completed in the Pujut Area, focusing on improving the infrastructure of schools and communities. He introduced the progress of school projects over the past three years, including a budget allocation of 700,000 Ringgit to fund 7 schools in 2022, 900,000 Ringgit benefiting 11 schools in 2023, and 1 million Ringgit supporting 12 schools in 2024. The projects cover maintenance of roofs, toilets, and other basic facilities, laying new electric circuits, renovating halls, tracks, replacing classroom floors, and installing safety facilities like cement drains.
In terms of community, 57 projects have been completed in the past, involving lighting, religious sites, leisure facilities, community centers, markets, roads, parking areas, parks, etc., with a total budget allocation of 12.35 million Ringgit. These projects include road and parking space upgrades, street lighting and road improvements, drainage system maintenance, leisure facility construction, and improvements to religious sites.
Despite education being under the federal government's jurisdiction, Adam emphasized that as local representatives, they still bear the responsibility of creating a more comfortable learning environment for children.
Adam also mentioned that 2025 will be a challenging year, especially in the negotiations between Sarawak and the federal government regarding the M63 agreement. He noted that although an agreement was reached between the Sarawak government and Petronas, the arrangements regarding oil and gas rights have not yet been announced. He stated that success depends on the unity of the Sarawak people, emphasizing that only by being united can the rights belonging to Sarawak truly be fought for.
He finally called on everyone to continue supporting the local political party GPS, maintain unity, and jointly promote the future development of Sarawak.
