Malaysian singer-songwriter DIOR Daying has announced that she will be holding her very first solo concert, “Kampung Girl Ordinary Person,” on December 13 at Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting. She shared that this concert is to fulfill her mother’s wish, and with a choked voice said, “This concert is a gift for my mom.” After years of longing for this stage, Daying couldn’t hide her excitement at the press conference, bursting into tears and, amid laughter, shouted, “I’m finally having my concert!”
Having debuted for 5 years, Daying frankly admitted that this concert is to fulfill her mother’s dream. When talking about her mother, her emotions instantly overcame her and she tearfully revealed that only after her mother’s passing did she discover, from her mother’s diary, the three wishes she left behind: to take the family on a trip, for Daying to take good care of herself, and for her to one day perform on a big stage. “Never in my life have I done anything to meet someone else’s expectations, but this time, it’s to fulfill my mom’s wish. Before she left, her biggest dream was to see me perform on a big stage for everyone to see. That’s why I’m having this concert.” Daying tearfully said that it took a long time to prepare for this, and then jokingly added, “I end up crying every time I meet the media—I really didn’t mean to cry!” She then laughed and expressed her excitement for the concert, exclaiming, “I’ve waited so long for this day!”
For this concert, Daying put a lot of thought into every detail, including the ticket release date and prices, both of which are related to her mother. She purposely chose September 2 as the ticket release date, which is her mother’s death anniversary; the ticket sales begin at 5:23 PM, and the VVVIP ticket price is RM523, both referencing the time her mother passed away. She said, “September 2 is my mother’s birthday, and 5:23 is the time she passed away. I want to treat this concert as a gift to her.”
Regarding the choice of Resorts World Genting as the venue, it’s because her deepest memories with her mother are there. “It’s been almost 11 years since my mom passed. I can barely find childhood memories anymore, except for the times I spent with her at Genting. So I want to find back those memories at the highest concert venue in Malaysia—this present is for my mom!” She also joked that she would reserve a seat in the audience for her mother: “So if you see an empty seat beside you, please don’t take away my mom’s light stick!”
When asked if she would add more shows if tickets sell out, Daying said she doesn’t have such plans at the moment: “I just want to focus on doing this one well. Whether or not there’ll be additional shows depends on the support from everyone, but for me, I just want to fulfill my mom’s wish and see where this feeling will lead me after.”
Coming from the small town of Parit Yaani, Batu Pahat, Johor, Daying named her concert “Kampung Girl Ordinary Person” and especially returned to her hometown to shoot the poster. Even the outfit she’ll wear on the day was chosen from a local second-hand shop. She said her hometown is a simple and unpretentious place, and she hopes to bring that most genuine, authentic side to the concert. She also hopes to share, through music, her journey from the small town to the stage, encouraging every “ordinary person” to bravely press on.
DIOR Daying’s first solo concert “Kampung Girl Ordinary Person” will be held at 6 PM on December 13, 2025, at the Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting.
