Penang Jit Sin Independent High School in Bukit Mertajam will welcome a significant event this Saturday (January 11) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar will personally visit and hand over funding to 63 Chinese independent schools nationwide.

This act is of special significance as Jit Sin Independent High School is where Prime Minister Anwar once taught.

Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook stated at the opening ceremony of the Chinese New Year event for Seremban National Chinese School this morning that this is the first time the Prime Minister has personally awarded funding to Chinese independent schools, and it is an important demonstration of the government’s support for diverse development.

Loke Siew Fook emphasized that Malaysia is a multicultural and multiracial country, and the government is always committed to defending and promoting diverse development. The decision to hold the funding handover ceremony at Jit Sin Independent High School, where Anwar once taught, further highlights its special significance, indicating the government’s high regard for education.

He said: “Since independence, our country has always been a diverse nation, not a unitary one. The government will continue to support and protect this characteristic.”

The '2025 Funding for 63 Chinese Independent Schools Nationwide' not only demonstrates the government’s focus on economic development but also underscores its commitment to multicultural and educational development. Loke Siew Fook pointed out that this historic move fully affirms the value of diverse development and is an important manifestation of the government's support and focus on national educational affairs.
