The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will take action within 24 hours of receiving a corruption complaint, and the informant can find out the status of the investigation after 28 working days.
This announcement was made by MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki during the annual address event, introducing one of the seven major improvements in the "New MACC Service Declaration."
In the statement, he said that the improvements advocated by the declaration comply with current changes, aiming to make the MACC a globally excellent anti-corruption agency, while ensuring that MACC services meet the high expectations of the people.
“The last amendment to the MACC service declaration was in 2015, and it will remain in use until 2024.
“This improvement is the MACC's pledge and assurance to clients and stakeholders that its service delivery will meet the established quality standards.”
Other improvements include keeping the information and identity of informants confidential under existing laws, and the results of integrity checks conducted through the integrity scrutiny system (e-STK) will be announced within 14 working days.
The new customer charter also stipulates that the MACC must respond within five working days upon receiving applications for anti-corruption education programs and respond to domestic and international project applications within seven working days.
Azam Baki stated that another improvement is that the MACC must upload information on corruption offenders into the database within 14 working days after the offender is convicted in court.
He added that according to the MACC Strategic Plan 2021 to 2025, the MACC focuses on three main directions and strategies to achieve the goal of a corruption-free nation: strengthening effective enforcement (operational division), comprehensive corruption prevention (prevention division), and fostering a culture of integrity (management division).
