(Miri, January 4) – Pujut State Assemblyman and Miri Mayor, YB Adam Yii Siew Sang, today presented grants totaling RM67,500 to 25 community, religious, and educational organizations at the N74 Pujut Service Centre.
The grants will be used to support the daily operations and community services of these organizations, further promoting the development of the local community.
In his speech, YB Adam Yii expressed his gratitude to all the representatives who attended to receive the grants from the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government. He encouraged the recipients to make good use of the funds to benefit their members and the broader community, aiming to create a more harmonious society.
The organizations receiving the grants include a variety of groups such as the Miri Methodist Iban Church, Miri Writers' Association for a book launching event and the 3rd Sarawak Chinese Literature Awards, Miri Music Society, Miri Broadway Dance Studio for the 10th Miri International Dance Championship, and the Curtin University Malaysia’s Institute of Marketing student chapter for events like the Entrepreneur’s Journey/SEO Workshop, among others.
Also receiving the grants were Miri Special Education School for their participation in the 2024 MSS Sarawak Special Education Sports Championships in Bintulu, Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS), the Batu Niah Buddhist Association, the Miri Longfeng Huang Clan Association, and many more local organizations.
In addition, YB Adam Yii emphasized the importance of cooperation between various sectors, including education, religious groups, and community organizations, to continue building a thriving and supportive environment in the region.
The event also included symbolic cheque handovers to representatives from the various benefiting organizations.
YB Adam Yii concluded by expressing his hopes that the financial support would enable these organizations to continue their valuable work and further contribute to the welfare of the community.
