(Bandar Seri Begawan, 18th) His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei departed for Berlin yesterday morning, officially commencing a state visit to Germany.
Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan is his son, Prince Mateen.
Upon arrival at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, His Majesty the Sultan was welcomed by German Foreign Office Acting Head of Protocol, Volker Timmermann.
Present at the welcoming were Brunei’s Second Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato Erywan; Brunei’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Germany, Pengiran Kertini; officials and staff from the Brunei Embassy in Berlin; and members of the Bruneian community.
Brunei and Germany officially established diplomatic relations on May 1, 1984. Over the past forty years, the two countries have built a solid foundation of cooperation based on mutual respect and common interests.
2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, representing an important milestone in the history of their friendship. The friendship between the two countries covers many important fields, including trade, defense, education, and health.
His Majesty the Sultan is scheduled to meet with the President of Germany today at the Bellevue Palace in Berlin, with the aim to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Brunei and Germany.
