(Sri Aman, 17th) — The Fire and Rescue Department announced yesterday that a forest fire spanning approximately 80 hectares along Jalan Kejatau-Lingga in Sri Aman has been completely extinguished, marking the conclusion of a seven-day firefighting operation.
According to the department's report, the operation, codenamed "Ops Kejatau II," ended at 12:10 p.m. today, after personnel carried out the final extinguishing tasks in Zones 3 and 4, confirming that the fire was fully under control.
A total of 18 firefighters were mobilized for the operation, divided into two teams. Each team used forest fire pumps to draw water from open sources and laid two 200-foot-long hoses, each equipped with a nozzle.
The firefighters adopted intensive water spraying and direct attack approaches to control and extinguish the fire.
The operation began at 7:30 a.m. yesterday, with the teams arriving at the scene at 7:45 a.m., after which they conducted a task briefing and personnel deployment.
Four officers from the Sarawak Environment Department arrived at the scene at 11:00 a.m., bringing drones to assist in the operation.

However, the team faced multiple challenges, including limited available open water sources at the scene, strong winds causing the fire to spread rapidly, as well as narrow access roads leading to the site.
Other agencies involved in the operation included the Civil Defence Force, which sent 5 personnel; the Irrigation and Drainage Department, which dispatched 5 personnel and 4 excavators; 3 plantation workers; and 4 Environment Department personnel.
The firefighting team withdrew from the site at 12:45 p.m., officially declaring the operation fully completed.
