(Kuching, 17th) Sarawak Professional Certificate in Contemporary Leadership (PCCL) alumni are exploring opportunities to participate in community and leadership development in Bangsamoro, southern Philippines, as part of efforts to expand such work beyond the state.
PCCL alumni representative Morshidi Fredrick stated that this initiative could encompass knowledge sharing, community development, leadership cultivation, and youth empowerment, while further strengthening people-to-people exchange and connections between Sarawak and Bangsamoro.
He said this last night during his speech at the trial launch of the Institute for Contemporary Leadership (ICL) and the 2026 PCCL Alumni Homecoming Dinner held in Kuching: "Looking to the future, PCCL alumni also hope to expand our contributions to areas outside Sarawak."
Morshidi is also the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts of Sarawak (MTCP). He pointed out that this regional initiative reflects Sarawak's increasingly prominent role as a regional partner, especially within the frameworks of ASEAN and the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA).
He said the alumni's vision for regional development is founded on the PCCL principle of "practicing leadership through service and contribution".
He cited the PCCL alumni’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities in the Linglong state constituency as an example, explaining that leadership should manifest not only in workplaces and classrooms, but also extend to community service.
He said: "Therefore, our leadership should not be limited by boundaries. We should use what we have learned to serve, connect, and contribute wherever our experiences can make a difference."
He also pointed out that the newly established ICL in Kuching can serve as a platform to cultivate young leaders, bringing together leaders from various fields and promoting a more inclusive and collaborative leadership style.
