Two Serious Accidents in 10 Hours on Expressway, Southbound and Northbound Traffic Remains Slow

(Kuala Lumpur, 29th) Two accidents involving heavy vehicles occurred within 10 hours on the Perak section of the North-South Expressway, causing both southbound and northbound lanes to experience slow traffic up until 9 am on Friday (May 29).

According to a statement posted on Facebook by the Malaysian Highway Authority, the first accident occurred at 9:56 pm on Thursday (May 28) at the 206.4 km mark of the North-South Expressway, namely the stretch from Kuala Kangsar towards the Menora Tunnel, resulting in the right and middle lanes being blocked.

From the expressway CCTV footage uploaded by the authority, the accident involved a container lorry, 2 SUVs, and a sedan car; the scene took place at a section where three lanes gradually narrowed into two lanes.

The authority also revealed that the second accident took place at 7:55 am on Friday (29th) at the 206.3 km mark northbound on the North-South Expressway, which is the Changkat Jering to Taiping (North) section.

This accident involved two lorries, causing the right lane to be blocked. As of 9 am on Friday (29th), the accident site had already been cleared but traffic remained slow at the scene.

The authorities urge drivers to stay alert and drive carefully.
