(Miri, 23rd) An incident occurred early this morning in which a car caught fire on Tanjong Road in front of the Miri Marriott Hotel. After completely extinguishing the blaze, firefighters discovered a charred body in the front seat of the vehicle. The gender and identity of the deceased have yet to be determined.

According to information released by the Operations Center of the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, the incident was reported at 3:39 a.m. today (the 23rd). The report stated that a car was on fire on Tanjong Temenggong Oyong Lawai Jau Road in front of the Marriott Hotel. The Miri Fire Department immediately dispatched 10 personnel to the scene.

Upon arrival, the involved vehicle—identified as a Proton Satria Neo—was already fully engulfed in flames and 100% destroyed. Firefighters quickly launched firefighting operations, using the fire engine's water tank as the water source, and successfully managed to bring the fire fully under control shortly thereafter.

Upon inspecting the car, the firefighting team found a body burned to charcoal in the front passenger seat, making it impossible to identify the gender or identity of the victim. The case has since been handed over to the police for further investigation.

In addition to the Fire and Rescue Department, hospital paramedics and the police were also on site to assist.
