The storm circle of severe typhoon 'Bavi' has entered Taiwan. The Central Weather Bureau stated on the 11th that Bavi would be closest to Taiwan from afternoon to evening that day, with the most significant impact. In response to Bavi’s approach, work and classes have been suspended in 20 counties and cities across Taiwan, except for Kinmen County and Lanyu and Green Island in Taitung County.
Bavi’s storm circle made landfall in Taiwan’s northeast corner to Yilan area at around 1 a.m. on the 11th and will be closest to Taiwan from afternoon to evening on the same day. The Central Weather Bureau continues to issue heavy rain alerts, warning that mountain areas in New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, and Taichung City must take strict precautions against extremely heavy rain, while heavy rain is also likely in the mountains north of Hsinchu, Taipei City mountainous areas, and Yilan’s mountainous areas.
Winds have noticeably increased across Taiwan, with northern Taiwan, Yilan, and the Hengchun Peninsula potentially experiencing strong gusts of force 9 to 11. According to statistics from the Central Disaster Response Center, as of the night of the 10th, a total of 13 people had been injured, primarily due to self-falls while riding and typhoon preparation injuries. A total of 8,972 people have been evacuated across Taiwan, with nearly 5,000 from Hualien County alone.
