Public Should Not Litter Randomly, Cooperation Needed to Maintain Cleanliness

(Miri, 14th) Miri Mayor YB Adam Yii urged the public not to litter randomly, as a clean environment requires everyone's cooperation to maintain.

He emphasized that the Municipal Council's main responsibility is to clean up the garbage placed in the bins provided by the council, and cleaning up litter strewn on the roadside or large items like sofas or furniture is not the council's responsibility.

Adam Yii made this statement during a media interview at the launch ceremony of Batik Air's inaugural flight from Kuala Lumpur to Miri.

He mentioned that the disposal of household garden waste does not fall within the scope of the Municipal Council's cleanup responsibilities, including home renovation debris, and should be taken to the Baram landfill.

“Although Miri City Council can assist in handling related waste, a fee is required.”

He also stated that the Municipal Council is fully committed to making Miri the best, and intends to use methods such as installing CCTV for monitoring and enforcement. However, this is not easy, so public cooperation is also needed to report violations when they are discovered.
