(Miri, 14th) Organized by the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), a Food Hygiene and Safety Briefing was successfully held at the clubhouse this morning. The event welcomed representatives from the Miri Health Department, food stall operators, and participants to jointly discuss the importance of food safety and hygiene.
The briefing was hosted by representatives from the Miri Health Department, including Mr. Mohamad Faez Bin Haji Adenan, Madam Afiqah, and Miss Juliana, highlighting compliance requirements with Malaysia's food safety regulations.
In his speech, Sim Soon Chian, the Third Vice Chairman of MCCI, expressed gratitude to the Health Department for supporting the event and emphasized the importance of the Food Act 1983 (Act 281) and the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009. These regulations lay the foundation for Malaysia's stringent food safety standards.
He stated these regulations ensure food premises adhere to basic hygiene practices. In Malaysia, where food is an important part of the culture, maintaining high hygiene standards is not only a legal obligation but also a moral responsibility.
He further pointed out that the collaborative efforts over the years have successfully pushed the implementation of regulations, protecting public health while supporting the vibrant growth of the food industry.
Sim reminded participants that food safety is a shared responsibility, especially during festive seasons, and that maintaining high standards of hygiene is crucial for community health and the reputation of Miri's food industry.
MCCI expresses gratitude to the Miri Health Department for their support and to all participants for their active involvement, hoping to further promote awareness of food safety through this event.
