News: Netanyahu Informs Trump That Israel Has Freedom of Action to Respond to Threats

(Israel, 25th) Israeli sources say that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu made it clear to U.S. President Trump that Israel will retain the freedom to take action in Lebanon to respond to threats.

An unnamed Israeli political source told Reuters on Sunday (May 24th) that Netanyahu, in a phone call with Trump on the night of the 23rd, emphasized that Israel will retain the freedom to take action to respond to threats in all areas, including Lebanon. Trump reaffirmed and supported this principle.

Previously, Trump said that Washington and Tehran had 'largely agreed' on a memorandum of understanding for a peace agreement. According to the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened, raising expectations for a breakthrough in the nearly three-month-long war.

Israeli sources stated that the U.S. is keeping Israel informed about the latest developments in negotiations with Iran.

The source said: 'President Trump has stated that he will insist on his consistent demands during the negotiations, namely that Iran must dismantle its nuclear facilities and remove all enriched uranium from Iranian territory. If these conditions are not met, he will not sign the final agreement.'

Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social that his call with Netanyahu was 'very smooth.'
