The Minister stated that the appointment of joint advisors, co-chairpersons, and Supreme Committee members is expected to strengthen the nation’s capacity in planning and preparation, thereby expressing the people’s gratitude and pride in this historic national moment.
He further pointed out that the 42nd National Day celebration in 2026 will fall during the holy month of Ramadan, and thus the ways and forms of celebration must be adjusted to fit the requirements of modest observance, promote pious values, and highlight the dignity of Ramadan.
“Our country has also previously held similar celebrations during Ramadan, so these adjustments are not unprecedented.”

“Next year’s celebration will revolve around Ramadan, with extra caution and thoroughness, emphasizing religious elements without diminishing the historic value and great significance of National Day itself.”
“Although it will be celebrated during Ramadan, patriotism and love for the country will still be at the core of the festivities. The planned events will continue to provide a platform for all citizens and residents across the country to jointly express their love for the Sultan and the nation.”

The main agenda of this first Supreme Committee meeting included: a summary of the achievements of the 41st National Day celebration in 2025; determination of the theme and theme description for the 42nd National Day in 2026; drafting the forms of main celebratory activities; confirming the procedures for the flag-raising and lowering ceremony, small flag distribution ceremony, flag-hoisting celebration flow, Qur’an recitation ceremony for the 42nd National Day, other related activities, as well as specific arrangements for the emblem design competition rules.
To ensure smooth proceedings of the celebration (which coincides with Ramadan), a Supreme Committee and working committee have been established, responsible for organizing and coordinating all preparatory work. The committees’ duties are to ensure that the festivities align with the principle of moderation, highlight pious values and the dignity of Ramadan, while preserving national spirit and igniting the enthusiasm of the people, turning Ramadan into a platform for fostering unity and expressing patriotic sentiments.
