(Bandar Seri Begawan, 18th) The 2024-2025 Southeast Asian Writers Award ceremony was recently held at the Sukhothai Palace in Bangkok, Thailand.
The award ceremony was presided over by Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya.

The recipient of the 2024 Best Southeast Asian Writer Award is Nurhamiza from Brunei, with a total of 20 award-winning works (all novels).
In addition to attending the award ceremony, the Southeast Asian Writers Award Committee also organized several activities, including a thanksgiving dinner and poetry recitation performances.
All Southeast Asian Writers Award recipients were presented with an award medal and a cash prize.
Also present at the award ceremony were Brunei Language and Literature Bureau Deputy Director Haireni and others.
The Southeast Asian Writers Award was established by Thailand in 1979. It is a prestigious award aimed at recognizing outstanding writers and poets from Southeast Asian countries (including Thailand, Brunei, the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, and Vietnam).
The goals of the Southeast Asian Writers Award include recognizing the creative talents of writers from Southeast Asian countries, raising awareness and understanding of ASEAN’s literary wealth, as well as appreciating and promoting the creative abilities of ASEAN’s writers.

The presentation of the Southeast Asian Writers Award provides a highly influential platform for promoting and recognizing national writers at the regional level.

This recognition demonstrates that writers from the country are capable of creating high-quality works comparable to those of other Southeast Asian writers and are even competitive on the international stage.
