Hotspot Area Re-inspection to Contain Hidden Fire – Fire & Rescue Teams Join Police for Site Patrol

(Miri, 27th) This morning, the Lutong Fire & Rescue Department in Miri conducted a hotspot fire inspection at the vacant land next to 'Sabang Smart City,' confirming that the fire affecting approximately 110 acres had been completely extinguished. However, there were still slight traces of smoke in some areas, indicating possible remaining hotspots which require ongoing monitoring.

This inspection was part of the fire department’s routine ‘hotspot patrol’ operation, which started at 8:30am and concluded at 10:30am. Fire personnel stated that, to prevent any fire from rekindling, the department would continue routine patrols and remain on high alert.

“Although all sources of fire at the scene have been extinguished, we still found smoke in multiple areas. We will continue to monitor and prevent any potential fire resurgence,” the personnel stated.

This patrol operation involved 8 members of the ‘Charlie Team,’ who travelled in two fire trucks to the site. The patrol was further supported by two officers from the Lutong Police District, demonstrating cross-agency cooperation.
