Nighttime Crackdown on Illegal Modified Motorcycle Gangs: 13 Motorcycles Seized, 57 Fines Issued

(Miri, 27th) Miri police launched an operation on the night of the 26th of this month to crack down on illegally modified motorcycles and street racing gangs, seizing a total of 13 modified motorcycles and issuing 57 traffic summonses to offenders.
Miri District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Lee Bing Qiang stated that the operation was planned by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Unit of the Miri District Police, running from 10pm on the 26th until 3am on the 27th. The operation covered key main roads in the city such as Miri city roads, Coastal Avenue, Miri Bypass, Tanjung Lobang Road, Tudan Road, Pujut Bayam Road, Kampung Tunku Road and areas around Canada Hill.
During the operation, 13 motorcycles were detained for illegal modifications or having features inconsistent with original factory specifications, in violation of Section 60 of the 1987 Road Transport Act, to be held for further inspection by the police.
Additionally, the police conducted checks on 13 individuals, and during the operation, issued a total of 57 warning summonses (PDRM(K) 257) for various types of traffic violations.
The police stressed that such enforcement operations will continue to be carried out irregularly and reminded road users, especially motorcyclists, to always comply with traffic regulations and refrain from engaging in dangerous or disruptive road behaviors such as illegal modifications, noise disturbances from gatherings, or street racing.
The police also urge members of the public who have information on related illegal racing activities to contact the Miri District Police Operations Room (085-433400) to provide leads.
