Lin Clan Association Celebrates Lunar New Year – Warmth at Reunion Banquet

(Miri, 2nd) The Youth Division of the Sarawak Miri Lin Clan Association hosted the annual "Galloping into the New Year, Lin Family Reunion" Lunar New Year Gathering and Banquet for the Year of Jiawu last night at the 5th floor banquet hall of Imperial Palace Hotel. The event, an annual family gathering, was filled with warmth and joyous atmosphere as clan members gathered together to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

Organizing chairman Lin Shiqiang stated that the success of this year's banquet was due to the diligent efforts of the organizing committee members, as well as the strong support and generous sponsorship from clan members and respected members of society. It was everyone's unity and cooperation that made the event both heartwarming and grand.

In his speech, Lin Shiqiang shared the story of the Lin clan ancestor. He mentioned that in the mythological novel "Investiture of the Gods", the Lin ancestor Bi Gan was a loyal minister of the Shang Dynasty, serving as prime minister. Because he remonstrated with the emperor directly, he was persecuted and had his "seven-orificed exquisite heart" removed.

Legend has it that after his heart was removed, Bi Gan continued to walk the streets. Only after hearing that "a heartless person cannot live" did he fall. Later, Jiang Ziya canonized Bi Gan as the Northern Dipper Wenqu Star, and among the people Bi Gan is revered as the "God of Literature and Wealth."

He said that the spirit conveyed by this story is "integrity and selflessness, with loyalty and righteousness as the foundation." The ancestor established himself through loyalty and passed on justice, leaving a lasting reputation and being revered by all for his impartiality and selflessness.

He firmly believes that with the blessings of their ancestors, if the Lin clan members continue to promote family unity, stay united, and help each other, they will surely have prosperous families, successful careers, good health, and abundant wealth.
