On the evening of the 5th, U.S. President Trump announced on social media that the 'Operation Freedom Plan', which was launched by the U.S. the previous day to escort trapped ships through the Strait of Hormuz, will be temporarily suspended.
He pointed out that, at the request of Pakistan and other countries, and in view of the significant military success achieved by the U.S. regarding actions against Iran, as well as major progress made in negotiations with Iranian representatives toward reaching a comprehensive and final agreement, both sides have reached a consensus: maritime blockade measures on Iranian ports will continue to be enforced fully and effectively, while Operation Freedom Plan will be suspended for a short period of time to observe whether the aforementioned agreement can ultimately be finalized and signed.
On the 4th, the U.S. military launched a guidance operation named 'Operation Freedom Plan', stating that it would guide trapped ships out of the Strait of Hormuz. This operation sparked a strong reaction from Iran and once again escalated tensions in the Middle East.
On the 4th, U.S. Central Command commander Cooper told the media that on that day Iran launched several cruise missiles and drones at U.S. Navy vessels, as well as merchant ships protected by the U.S. military; the U.S. military sank six Iranian small boats. The UAE Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense system successfully intercepted several missiles and multiple drones coming from the direction of Iran that day. The drone attack caused a fire at the Fujairah Oil Industrial Zone.
