On the afternoon of the 4th, an incident occurred in the eastern German city of Leipzig where a car rammed into a crowd, resulting in 2 deaths and 22 injuries, among whom 2 were seriously injured.
Leipzig Mayor Burkhard Jung indicated that the incident caused 2 deaths. The suspect has been apprehended by police and there is currently no further threat to public safety. The suspect is a 33-year-old German man who was arrested at the scene.
Leipzig Fire Department chief Axel Schurr said that the incident caused 22 injuries, among whom 2 seriously injured individuals received emergency treatment at the scene before being taken to the hospital.
He noted that about 40 firefighters, 40 paramedics, and two helicopters participated in the rescue.
