Tragic End to One-Week Search: Missing Man Found Dead After Cliff Plunge

(Sibu, 17th) — A man who had been missing for a week was found dead yesterday in a valley along the Kapit-Baleh Dam Road, about 300 kilometers from Sibu. His body was discovered near a car that had plunged off a cliff.
Kapit District Police Chief Assistant Superintendent Rohana Nanu (DSP Rohana Nanu) stated that the deceased was confirmed to be 54-year-old Bikalanga, and his body was found approximately 30 meters from his vehicle.
"The body has been sent to Kapit Hospital and identified by family members." She said this when interviewed tonight.
Meanwhile, Sibu Branch Director of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Andy Ali, revealed that authorities received a report at 3:06 PM and subsequently dispatched personnel from the Kapit Fire and Rescue Station to the scene.
"The rescue team arrived at 4:08 PM and discovered a Proton Bezza car that had plunged into a valley about 100 meters from the main road. Rescue personnel used a stretcher and rope system to hoist the body up, then handed it over to the police," he said.
He added that Ministry of Health medical staff confirmed the death at the scene and the entire operation concluded at 4:35 PM.
