On the 13th, a shooting occurred at Brown University, a prestigious school in Providence, the capital of Rhode Island, leaving 2 dead and 9 injured. The police arrested a 24-year-old man from Wisconsin, but later discovered they had the wrong person and released him. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has offered a $50,000 (approximately 200,000 ringgit) reward to track down the real suspect.
According to the reward poster released by the FBI, the suspect is 173 cm tall, has a strong build, and was wearing a dark jacket and pants at the time of the incident, along with a knit cap and mask.
Additionally, the Providence Police Department also released footage showing that the suspect had been loitering in the nearby neighborhood for several hours prior to committing the crime.
When asked how residents could feel safe while the suspect is being pursued, Providence Mayor Smiley said that there have been no new credible threats in the Providence community since last Saturday. He added that increased police deployment throughout the city will help restore a sense of security in the community.
