In response to the Sydney Bondi Beach shooting, Australia convened a National Cabinet meeting on the afternoon of the 15th, with one of the agenda items being a review of gun laws.

The Sydney Bondi Beach shooting that occurred on the night of the 14th has left 16 people dead, including one gunman.

According to Australian media reports, after the National Cabinet meeting, Albanese issued a statement saying that he had reached consensus with state governors and the chief ministers of each territory, believing that "there is a need for immediate, strong, decisive, and targeted gun law reforms."

The report said that states and territories have already entrusted relevant departments to formulate reform plans, including: expediting the establishment of a national gun registration system; allowing further use of criminal intelligence to support the issuance of gun licenses; restricting the number of firearms individuals may own; restricting "indefinite gun licenses" and tightening the types of legal firearms and their modification scope; making possession of Australian citizenship one of the necessary conditions for obtaining a gun license.
