After review by the parole board of the Thai Ministry of Justice, Thaksin was granted parole and released from Bangkok's Klong Prem Central Prison on the morning of May 11. Prior to his official release, Thaksin was required to wear an electronic monitoring device, accept parole supervision, report to supervisory authorities on schedule, and was not permitted to leave the country.
