Southern Thai Insurgents Attack Near School – Police Car Hit by Bomb, 3 Injured

A police car in Yala Province, southern Thailand, was hit by a bomb near a school, resulting in injuries to 2 police officers and 1 civilian!

This terrorist attack targeting police occurred at around 8:35 am on Tuesday, on a road near a school in Raman District, Yala Province, about 100 meters from the school gate.

At the time, the police were performing an escort and patrol mission to ensure the safety of teachers, staff, and students during the school term.

Preliminary investigations show that the police car, belonging to Yala's 12th Special Forces Unit, was attacked by a pre-planted explosive device remotely detonated during its escort duty.

The explosion was powerful, with a loud bang at the scene. The police vehicle was immediately damaged and lost control.

The explosion injured a total of 3 people, including 2 police officers and 1 local resident passing by. The injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

After the incident, local police and military rushed to the scene to handle the situation, immediately cordoning off the surrounding area and dispatching a bomb squad (EOD) for a comprehensive sweep to prevent secondary explosions or other security threats.

At the same time, forensics officers have entered the site to collect explosive remnants and related evidence, analyze the methods used, and track clues in the case.

The authorities pointed out that the attack took place near a school during the time students arrive, targeting a 'soft target' and causing psychological harm to teachers, students, and the wider community regarding safety.
