A biomass power plant in Pattani, southern Thailand, was attacked by terrorists in the early hours of Tuesday. Around 10 masked assailants broke into the plant and detonated three explosive devices, causing damage to the facilities, but fortunately, there were no casualties.
The terror attack took place at around 12:40 a.m. in Nong Chik District. According to the local police, the terrorists are believed to have infiltrated the plant from the forest at the rear, climbed over the fence to get inside, and threatened the on-site security and staff with firearms to make them evacuate.

Police stated that as the incident occurred late at night and staff managed to evacuate in time, no casualties were caused. After the explosions, the terrorists quickly escaped into the nearby woods.
After the incident, authorities cordoned off the area to carry out investigations and temporarily closed about 4 kilometers of the main nearby road to allow security units to conduct bomb disposal and collect evidence. The bomb disposal team then entered the site to check for any remaining unexploded devices.

Security units do not rule out the possibility that the incident is linked to local terrorist organizations or factions opposed to the power plant project, noting that this area has seen similar attacks targeting infrastructure in the past.
