Amid rising tensions along the Thai-Cambodian border, authorities have announced a ban on drone flights in certain district areas of 7 provinces near the border from November 16 to 30.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand issued an announcement on the 14th, stating that the 7 provinces are Sa Kaeo, Buri Ram, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Ubon Ratchathani, Trat, and Chanthaburi, with a total of 28 districts within these provinces designated as strictly no-fly zones.

The Civil Aviation Authority emphasized that this no-fly order was made following multiple joint risk assessments with security agencies. At the same time, the Civil Aviation Authority is taking into account the regular needs of the public and businesses; use of drones remains permitted across Thailand outside the no-fly zones, but all operators must strictly adhere to relevant operating regulations.

The Civil Aviation Authority stated that it will continue to closely monitor the situation at the Thai-Cambodian border and will adjust relevant measures according to security developments as appropriate, ensuring that domestic drone use remains safe, orderly, and does not affect public security.
