A minibus carrying 13 Chinese nationals was involved in a traffic accident on the 14th in Buleleng Regency, Bali, Indonesia, resulting in 5 deaths and 8 injuries. Additionally, one Indonesian driver suffered minor injuries.

According to China News Service, reporters have learned from the Chinese Consulate General in Denpasar, Indonesia, that the consulate received the above notification from the Bali police in the early morning of that day.

After receiving the notification, the Chinese Consulate General in Denpasar, Indonesia, activated the emergency response mechanism, maintained close contact with the Indonesian police and relevant departments, verified the casualties of the Chinese nationals, established direct contact with those involved, and coordinated with local volunteer consular protection units to send personnel to provide translation services for those involved.

Currently, the injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

According to foreign media reports, Buleleng Police Chief Ida said that the minibus was traveling along a winding downhill road from the south to the north side of the island at the time. The driver lost control, and the vehicle veered off the road, crashed into a roadside garden, and hit a tree.

Ida stated: “Because the driver was not vigilant enough when turning on the downhill slope, the vehicle veered off the asphalt road and crashed into a community garden, resulting in this traffic accident.”
