【Sabah State Election】Hajiji Sworn In As Chief Minister Again in the Early Hours

(Sabah, 30th) Sabah coalition chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji was sworn in as Sabah’s Chief Minister again early Sunday morning at the State Governor's palace.

Having won the Sulaman state seat in the 17th Sabah state election, Hajiji took the oath of office before Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman. The swearing-in ceremony began at 3:05am, with attendees including Sabah coalition Secretary-General Datuk Seri Masidi, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister cum Sabah coalition Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Armizan, Sabah Speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim, Sabah State Attorney Datuk Sukanjan, and Musa Aman’s confidential secretary Izharuddin.

Sabah and Sarawak Chief Judge Datuk Aziza witnessed the signing of the documents. Earlier, before leaving the Chief Minister’s official residence for the Governor’s palace, Hajiji told reporters that upon his return he would issue a statement updating on the formation of the new Sabah government after the 17th State Election.

"My statement is already written. Once I’ve gone to the Governor’s palace, it will be released afterward."

According to the official results from the Election Commission, of Sabah’s 73 state seats, the Sabah coalition led with 29 seats, followed by Warisan with 25 seats, Barisan Nasional 6 seats, Independents 5 seats, PBS 3 seats, STAR 2 seats, Pakatan Harapan 1 seat, Perikatan Nasional 1 seat, and KDM (Sabah Democratic and Harmony Party) 1 seat. The threshold for forming a government is 37 seats.
