About 80 Kampong Kasat residents and Kampong Kasat Primary School staff (including students) attended the fire safety briefing.
Afterwards, acting assistant fire station commander Ashri conducted the fire safety briefing. He focused on introducing the mission of the fire and rescue department, which is to reduce the incidence of fires and to handle all emergency calls with professionalism.
In his briefing, Ashri also explained the special services provided by the department, including rescuing trapped persons in elevators, flammable chemical leaks, traffic accidents causing injuries, houses damaged by falling trees, wildlife disturbances, emergency alarm activations, boat accidents and water rescue, landslides causing casualties, fires, attempted suicides, industrial accidents, and gas leaks.
The briefing also covered the functions of fire extinguishers, including extinguishing small fires, fire prevention, and self-rescue during a fire.
According to him, fires and extinguishers are categorized by specific standards, with Class A (water-based) extinguishers used for fires caused by wood, fabric, and paper; Class B (foam type) extinguishers for fires caused by oil, paint, and flammable liquids and gases;
In addition to home insurance, Ashri also recommended that every household should be equipped with a fire extinguisher in case of fire emergencies.
Class C (carbon dioxide type) extinguishers are used for fires caused by electrical and gas issues; Class D (dry powder type) extinguishers are suitable for Class A, B, and C fires.
After the briefing, participants also had the opportunity to observe practical demonstrations, including using fire extinguishers and wet cloths to put out fires and handling liquefied petroleum gas (gas cylinders).
