Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook stated that our country must learn from the Jeju aviation accident and take preventive measures to avoid similar incidents from happening.
He said that the plane crash in Korea has shocked the entire aviation industry, “Although this accident did not involve Malaysians and did not occur in our country, we must also learn lessons from it and take preventive measures.”
The Jeju Air plane crash at the end of last month resulted in 179 deaths.
Loke said there are indications that the crashed plane might have hit a flock of birds before crashing, which led to both engines failing, causing the plane to belly land and eventually crash into the airport's perimeter wall and explode.
He said: “Institutions in our country, such as the Civil Aviation Authority, must pay attention to this matter and act cautiously. We must ensure safety in our aviation sector and instill passenger confidence.”
