Transport Minister Anthony Loke expressed that the issue of overloading in heavy vehicles has persisted for decades, but previous ministers had neither seriously addressed nor successfully resolved it.
“The overloading issue has been occurring for decades, and no previous minister has seriously or successfully resolved the overloading issue.”
Therefore, Anthony Loke stated, he hopes to solve the overloading issue once and for all, as the problem is becoming increasingly severe.
He mentioned that besides reviewing the legal issues, it is also necessary to examine the entire ecosystem of the transportation industry, including the cooperation of ports and relevant units.
He emphasized that resolving the overloading of heavy vehicles requires significant political will and determination.
He said, “I want to solve the overloading issue once and for all, which requires a very large scale of joint action.”
