(Bandar Seri Begawan, 14th) Inchcape Brunei has successfully installed a solar photovoltaic system through the “Inchcape Brunei Solar Panel” initiative.
This initiative demonstrates the company’s commitment to long-term sustainability and responsible business practices, making it the first automotive company in the country to install solar panels on its premises’ rooftops.
To commemorate this milestone, the company held an event at the Lexus Brunei showroom. Guests attending the event included: Inchcape Brunei President Haji Ahmad, Acting Director of Energy Transition at Prime Minister’s Office Department of Energy Abdul Salam, other government officials, senior executives and leadership team members of Inchcape Brunei, as well as invited media representatives.
NBT Brunei Leading the Trend: Promoting Sustainable Development Solar photovoltaic systems have been installed at two key locations: the Lexus showroom and service center in Gadong (144 solar panels) and the Toyota showroom and service center in Beribi (224 solar panels).
These installations will generate a substantial amount of renewable energy, and are expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 100 to 156 metric tonnes.
By integrating solar power into daily operations, the initiative also aims to reduce operational costs and improve energy efficiency. In addition to its environmental goals, this initiative also aligns with Brunei’s sustainable development objectives and “Brunei Vision 2035.”
NBT Brunei’s commitment to sustainability started more than ten years ago. Since then, the company has stayed at the forefront of hybrid innovation as the pioneer of hybrid electric vehicles, leading the industry with over 1,000 units of hybrid vehicles sold.
The company’s range of hybrid models features lower emissions and higher fuel efficiency, offering customers a smarter and more sustainable way to drive.
The company’s solar investment complements its leadership in hybrid technology, highlighting its commitment to driving innovation, protecting the environment, and shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future.
Inchcape Brunei Vice President Muhd Clovien emphasized in his speech: “We are incredibly honored and proud of this milestone. Successfully integrating solar power into our operations represents an important step in our ongoing commitment to promoting and practicing environmental sustainability.”
He said that this is only part of a long journey, and the company will continue to set an example in green technology and sustainable practices while raising awareness and participation among staff, customers, and the public.
