(Bandar Seri Begawan, 14th) Brunei's grand flag-lowering ceremony was held yesterday afternoon at Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation Park, marking the end of celebrations for His Majesty the Sultan's birthday.
The guest of honor in attendance was Minister of Development Dato Juanda, who also serves as the co-chairman of the National Committee for the celebrations.
During the ceremony, a contingent of 79 Royal Navy flag bearers entered the venue, accompanied by the Royal Brunei Police Force Band, while the Barakah Secondary School choir performed the national anthem, "God Bless the Sultan."
Subsequently, the Navy flag bearers lowered the large national flag, measuring 3.7 meters by 7.5 meters, and then handed the grand flag over to the guest of honor.
Also present at the ceremony were Members of Parliament, members of the National Committee for the 2025 Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei's 79th Birthday, which is composed of permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, heads of various departments, senior government officials, and private groups.
With the lowering of the grand national flag, the organizing committee also called upon citizens and businesses to take down the national flags and congratulatory banners (including those on buildings and business premises) that had been displayed.
