Wong Kar Wai Criticizes 'Tang Yan is Pretentious' Audio Leaked, 'Blossoms' Crew Insider Exposed

Chinese 'Post-85s Flower' Tang Yan has reached new career heights with her starring role in 'Blossoms', and new drama offers keep coming her way! However, recently, an audio recording allegedly leaked by scriptwriter Gu Er has been circulating online, featuring a conversation between 'My Best Friend's Story' ('Flowing Golden Years') screenwriter Qin Wen and director Wong Kar Wai. The conversation touches on several leading actresses from the '85 Flowers' generation.

In the recording, Qin Wen says that when filming 'My Best Friend's Story', she gave all of Liu Shishi's original lines to Ni Ni. Wong Kar Wai asked, "Didn't Liu Shishi come to you about it?" Qin Wen replied, "She did, but I put her in her place!" Qin Wen further stated, "Ni Ni doesn’t need to approach me, I’ve always been looking after her." Netizens interpreted this as implying Ni Ni has strong backing and receives special treatment.

In addition, in the audio, Wong Kar Wai also mentioned another actress Tang Yan, saying "Tang Yan is a very pretentious person," and further explained that she is "used to arriving early and is particular about etiquette," thus instructing staff to adjust their communication strategy, so that teachers (crew) arrive early and wait to avoid Tang Yan arriving first and being left unattended. It is said this conversation took place before the crew began filming, during discussions on how to communicate with cast members.
